Mr. Yasuyuki Katagi graduated from Sophia University and joined McCann Erickson Hakuhodo in 1986. He spent the first 15 years of his career in Japan and Germany with McCann, leading major international accounts including Nestlé, General Motors, Microsoft and Hennessey as well as domestic accounts including Asahi Breweries.

He joined Ogilvy & Mather Shanghai in 2001 as Business Director in charge of
international brands’ 360 communication for major clients including Volkswagen and
Coca‐Cola. He was transferred to Hong Kong in 2003 to join Ogilvy Asia Pacific
management team as the head of the Chairman’s office. He was mainly involved in M&A projects and training staff.

In 2005, he established Red Wasabi under Ogilvy China, a consulting agency which
provides marketing/communication support to Japanese brands in China. He worked
with a broad range of major Japanese clients including Shiseido, Yakult, Suntory and
Otsuka Pharmaceutical. During this period, he was a member of Ogilvy’s China management team managing 1600 employees in various locations and disciplines. In 2009, he transferred to Tokyo and became Executive Director of the Japan operation in charge of managing the various group disciplines.

In 2011, he assumed the role of Representative Director, President & CEO of McCann Erickson Japan and McCann Worldwide Japan. In 2013, in addition to his two responsibilities, he also assumed Representative Director, President of Craft Worldwide.
