Yuko Yamashita is an associate professor of marketing at Hitotsubashi University. She works for the Marketing Capabilities project, and established a “Hitotsubashi Global Marketing Consortium” with major Japanese companies. She has presented the research results both at international academic conferences and at business forums and workshops.

Her research interest has been developed to unravel the peculiarities of the Japanese marketing and its global adaptation. The result of the first research project was published as Marketing Strategy and Organizational Processes: An Empirical Study on Japanese Firms in 2012(in Japanese).

She is the author of the book, Branding in China, published in 2006(in Japanese). The book explains how brands have shaped marketing infrastructure, such as media or distribution channels. Her current interests cover the global impacts of the growth of the emerging markets. She works for the “Megacity and Global environment,” project at the RIHN (Research Institute for Humanity and Nature).
